Try this prayer
The reasons are simple, if you do not believe there is a God you do not pray. Also if you do not believe that God answers prayers you do not pray. But there are many people who do pray because they have a reason to pray. They may know of someone who was sick, or had needs, and someone prayed and they were healed or their needs were met supernaturally. Then there are people where prayer is a way of life because they have had a personal experience of God at a time when their prayers were answered. Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship between mankind and God. Prayer keeps the relationship healthy. No communication no relationship.
Do you want a relationship with God? Do you want your prayers answered?
You know that you have done things you should not have done?
 

Father in Heaven, I come in the name of Jesus, I know I have done many things I should not have done. Will you ask Jesus to wash away my sins. I want Jesus to live inside me. Thank you.
If you said that prayer intellectually, just for kicks, nothing will happen. If you say the prayer with a sincere heart felt desire to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ you will enjoy a miracle, you will feel different.
You will have a relationship with God.
You will want to keep communicating with God, asking Him to help you in your life. As one of His children He will want to answer your prayers that you may be blessed. He has written a great love story for each one of us about how we came into being and what future He has planned for us. If you don't have a copy of this great love story, the Bible ask us for one. You will be so happy you may want to go to a church and sing praises to Him. To join others in telling Him how much you love Him.
